Big Update: Habits Coach App Introduces State-Aware Habit System

Before I tell you what’s new, I want to share a quick story that changed everything …

The Breakthrough Came From Getting Sick

A few weeks ago, I got hit with a nasty flu bug after traveling.

I was completely wiped out — physically, emotionally, and mentally.

And for the first time in a while, I didn’t have the energy to complete all my habits.

But something clicked:

It wasn’t that my habits were broken — it’s that my energy and state had shifted, and my habit system wasn’t adapting to that shift.

As I slowly started recovering, I noticed something else:

My energy levels and nervous system state were changing throughout the day — and if I paid attention, I could match the right habits to those changes.

That insight sparked a total redesign of the home screen and the way the Habits Coach App works.

Now … the app doesn’t just ask “Did you do your habits?”

It starts with a much more important question:

“How are you doing right now?”

What’s New in Build 653

1. Awareness Check-In

The first thing you see when you open the app is your Awareness Check-In.

You’ll be asked 3 simple questions:

  • What’s your Energy level right now?
  • What’s your current State? (Recovery, Growth, Achievement, etc.)
  • What’s your Intention? (Stay here, Shift up, Calm down, etc.)

This check-in takes less than 10 seconds — but it gives you powerful insight into where you are and what you need next.

And you’ll be invited to do this up to 3x per day.

2. Personalized Habit Suggestions

Based on your check-in, the app will now:

  • Highlight habits that are a good match for your current energy, state, and intention
  • Dim habits that don’t match your current state — so you can skip or save them for later
  • Suggest new habits that might work better in this moment

This means you’re no longer just checking off a to-do list — you’re matching your actions to your nervous system in real-time.

3. Habit Customization (By Energy, State, & Intent)

The coolest new feature:

You can now customize each habit with the energy levels, nervous system states, and shift intentions that support you best.

That means your habits are no longer one-size-fits-all.

You get to manually configure them to align with:

  • High vs. low energy days
  • Recovery vs. Achievement vs. Connection modes
  • Whether you want to ground, shift, or boost your state

This gives you full control to design a habit system that adjusts with you — not against you.

This is Habit Theory 2.0 in action.

Update now, try your first Awareness Check-In, and start building a personal development system that matches who you are and how you feel — right now.
